Glad to know that finally one minister is making some noise. While some of it is in the right direction, others are misdirected.
I will not talk here about your other wishful thinking, but would only like to talk about the above mentioned subject regarding removal of subsidy on diesel for the SUV owners.
You may have coined them as "Socially Useless Vehicle" but please be mindful that most of your political fraternity uses them and abuse the subsidy which is given after we pay tax on our hard earned money.
The fact of the matter here is that as an auto enthusiasts who appreciates and would enjoy the delights of owning and driving a well built vehicle, I would also be readily willing to pay the market price for it's fuel. If somebody can spend 20lakhs rupees on that vehicle, surely they would have the money to fill the fuel for it.
As a member of a online auto enthusiasts community, I am linking here a link of discussion on the same topic where majority agrees that we should pay the market price of the diesel. The link is as given under :

But be mindful that it should not be done selectively. The subsidy removal should be complete and then you and your government can formulate ways and means to subsidize the farm and transport sector while taking care that the same is not misused again.
We feel that it is more due to the lack of political willingess and vote bank politics, that this has not been done as yet. When your government can remove the subsidy on Petrol being unmindful that these days even a daily wage labourer and a student uses two-wheelers to commute which uses petrol as a fuel without facing major opposition. We feel that even the subsidy on diesel can be removed.
But please spare us a little pain by rationalising taxes and make sure that our taxes doesn't end up in your colleagues swiss bank accounts. That really hurts. If only your government can make a concerted effort to bring that money back to our country, we all will be a happy lot and the probably we can save the tigers too with that money and oh yes, also probably we can build a new airport or a major power project, if your ministry would grant the environmental clearance.
Thanks & regards,
Manish Chaudhary.
P.S: I own a Bike and Car , both of which run on petrol, so I don't use the subsidy and I also buy my ration from the shops at market price.
